How the Armenia flag emoji works
🇦🇲 is not a single character. It is two regional indicator letters, 🇦 (U+1F1E6) and 🇲 (U+1F1F2), which spell AM, the two-letter code for Armenia. Phones and computers that support flag emojis draw the pair as the flag.
Why do I see "AM" instead of the flag?
Windows does not draw country flag emojis. In Chrome, Edge and most Windows apps, 🇦🇲 shows up as the letters AM. The emoji is still correct: paste it into a message and anyone reading on an iPhone, Android phone or Mac sees the flag, like the image at the top of this page.
How to type the Armenia flag emoji
- iPhone and iPad: open the emoji keyboard and search “Armenia”, or scroll to the last category, Flags.
- Android: in Gboard, tap the emoji key, then search “Armenia” or open the flags tab at the end.
