How the Cameroon flag emoji works

🇨🇲 is not a single character. It is two regional indicator letters, 🇨 (U+1F1E8) and 🇲 (U+1F1F2), which spell CM, the two-letter code for Cameroon. Phones and computers that support flag emojis draw the pair as the flag.

Why do I see "CM" instead of the flag?

Windows does not draw country flag emojis. In Chrome, Edge and most Windows apps, 🇨🇲 shows up as the letters CM. The emoji is still correct: paste it into a message and anyone reading on an iPhone, Android phone or Mac sees the flag, like the image at the top of this page.

How to type the Cameroon flag emoji
