How the North Korea flag emoji works
🇰🇵 is not a single character. It is two regional indicator letters, 🇰 (U+1F1F0) and 🇵 (U+1F1F5), which spell KP, the two-letter code for North Korea. Phones and computers that support flag emojis draw the pair as the flag.
Why do I see "KP" instead of the flag?
Windows does not draw country flag emojis. In Chrome, Edge and most Windows apps, 🇰🇵 shows up as the letters KP. The emoji is still correct: paste it into a message and anyone reading on an iPhone, Android phone or Mac sees the flag, like the image at the top of this page.
