How the Martinique flag emoji works
🇲🇶 is not a single character. It is two regional indicator letters, 🇲 (U+1F1F2) and 🇶 (U+1F1F6), which spell MQ, the two-letter code for Martinique. Phones and computers that support flag emojis draw the pair as the flag.
Why do I see "MQ" instead of the flag?
Windows does not draw country flag emojis. In Chrome, Edge and most Windows apps, 🇲🇶 shows up as the letters MQ. The emoji is still correct: paste it into a message and anyone reading on an iPhone, Android phone or Mac sees the flag, like the image at the top of this page.
