How the Qatar flag emoji works
🇶🇦 is not a single character. It is two regional indicator letters, 🇶 (U+1F1F6) and 🇦 (U+1F1E6), which spell QA, the two-letter code for Qatar. Phones and computers that support flag emojis draw the pair as the flag.
Why do I see "QA" instead of the flag?
Windows does not draw country flag emojis. In Chrome, Edge and most Windows apps, 🇶🇦 shows up as the letters QA. The emoji is still correct: paste it into a message and anyone reading on an iPhone, Android phone or Mac sees the flag, like the image at the top of this page.
How to type the Qatar flag emoji
- iPhone and iPad: open the emoji keyboard and search “Qatar”, or scroll to the last category, Flags.
