How the Thailand flag emoji works

🇹🇭 is not a single character. It is two regional indicator letters, 🇹 (U+1F1F9) and 🇭 (U+1F1ED), which spell TH, the two-letter code for Thailand. Phones and computers that support flag emojis draw the pair as the flag.

Why do I see "TH" instead of the flag?

Windows does not draw country flag emojis. In Chrome, Edge and most Windows apps, 🇹🇭 shows up as the letters TH. The emoji is still correct: paste it into a message and anyone reading on an iPhone, Android phone or Mac sees the flag, like the image at the top of this page.

How to type the Thailand flag emoji

  • iPhone and iPad: open the emoji keyboard and search “Thailand”, or scroll to the last category, Flags.

  • Mac: press Control + Command + Space and search “Thailand”.
  • Windows: Windows key + period opens the emoji panel, but it has no country flags. Copy the emoji from this page instead.
