How the Tuvalu flag emoji works
🇹🇻 is not a single character. It is two regional indicator letters, 🇹 (U+1F1F9) and 🇻 (U+1F1FB), which spell TV, the two-letter code for Tuvalu. Phones and computers that support flag emojis draw the pair as the flag.
Why do I see "TV" instead of the flag?
Windows does not draw country flag emojis. In Chrome, Edge and most Windows apps, 🇹🇻 shows up as the letters TV. The emoji is still correct: paste it into a message and anyone reading on an iPhone, Android phone or Mac sees the flag, like the image at the top of this page.
How to type the Tuvalu flag emoji
- iPhone and iPad: open the emoji keyboard and search “Tuvalu”, or scroll to the last category, Flags.
