How the United Nations flag emoji works
πΊπ³ is not a single character. It is two regional indicator letters, πΊ (U+1F1FA) and π³ (U+1F1F3), which spell UN, the two-letter code for United Nations. Phones and computers that support flag emojis draw the pair as the flag.
Why do I see "UN" instead of the flag?
Windows does not draw country flag emojis. In Chrome, Edge and most Windows apps, πΊπ³ shows up as the letters UN. The emoji is still correct: paste it into a message and anyone reading on an iPhone, Android phone or Mac sees the flag, like the image at the top of this page.
