How the Mayotte flag emoji works
πΎπΉ is not a single character. It is two regional indicator letters, πΎ (U+1F1FE) and πΉ (U+1F1F9), which spell YT, the two-letter code for Mayotte. Phones and computers that support flag emojis draw the pair as the flag.
Why do I see "YT" instead of the flag?
Windows does not draw country flag emojis. In Chrome, Edge and most Windows apps, πΎπΉ shows up as the letters YT. The emoji is still correct: paste it into a message and anyone reading on an iPhone, Android phone or Mac sees the flag, like the image at the top of this page.
