How the Burundi flag emoji works
🇧🇮 is not a single character. It is two regional indicator letters, 🇧 (U+1F1E7) and 🇮 (U+1F1EE), which spell BI, the two-letter code for Burundi. Phones and computers that support flag emojis draw the pair as the flag.
Why do I see "BI" instead of the flag?
Windows does not draw country flag emojis. In Chrome, Edge and most Windows apps, 🇧🇮 shows up as the letters BI. The emoji is still correct: paste it into a message and anyone reading on an iPhone, Android phone or Mac sees the flag, like the image at the top of this page.
How to type the Burundi flag emoji
