How the Brazil flag emoji works
🇧🇷 is not a single character. It is two regional indicator letters, 🇧 (U+1F1E7) and 🇷 (U+1F1F7), which spell BR, the two-letter code for Brazil. Phones and computers that support flag emojis draw the pair as the flag.
Why do I see "BR" instead of the flag?
Windows does not draw country flag emojis. In Chrome, Edge and most Windows apps, 🇧🇷 shows up as the letters BR. The emoji is still correct: paste it into a message and anyone reading on an iPhone, Android phone or Mac sees the flag, like the image at the top of this page.
How to type the Brazil flag emoji
- iPhone and iPad: open the emoji keyboard and search “Brazil”, or scroll to the last category, Flags.
