🇼🇸 is not a single character. It is two regional indicator letters, 🇼 (U+1F1FC) and 🇸 (U+1F1F8), which spell WS, the two-letter code for Samoa. Phones and computers that support flag emojis draw the pair as the flag.
Why do I see "WS" instead of the flag?
Windows does not draw country flag emojis. In Chrome, Edge and most Windows apps, 🇼🇸 shows up as the letters WS. The emoji is still correct: paste it into a message and anyone reading on an iPhone, Android phone or Mac sees the flag, like the image at the top of this page.
